Athens County Records Contacts

Athens County Busted Mugshots is a private reference service, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, release a person, post bond, retrieve an official booking record, or decide a court matter. Use the responsible public office for those services.

Official Records and Custody Contacts

Use the contact that matches the question. The Sheriff handles local agency and records matters, while SEORJ is the regional facility for current prisoner information. The Sheriff’s current Records page asks requesters to include the incident type, location, case number, date or time range, person involved, and any other facts that help identify the record.

For a current person in regional custody, begin with the official SEORJ inmate-information route and identify the arresting agency in the JDS roster. SEORJ serves five counties, so a regional entry must be checked for its agency and court connection. Its public roster is a current-custody view, not a complete arrest archive.

  • For a Sheriff booking record or incident record, send a narrow request to the Sheriff’s Records contact with the known identifying details.
  • For a person currently held at SEORJ, use the facility’s inmate-information route or the listed prisoner-information line.
  • For Athens Police, Nelsonville Police, or Glouster Police reports, contact the named arresting agency because its report may be held separately from the regional jail record.
  • For a case outcome, use the Athens County Clerk of Courts or Athens County Municipal Court docket route.
  • For a state-prison or supervision profile, use the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction offender search rather than the county roster.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the appropriate BOP or ICE locator, which is separate from SEORJ custody.

The Sheriff’s public site lists 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. weekday office hours. A policy PDF refers to 8:30 a.m. inspection hours, so confirm the live hours before making an in-person records visit. Public-record copies use actual reproduction cost, and advance payment may be required. No booking-photo-specific fee was published.
